The Wells County Fair in Fessenden, North Dakota opened on July 12, 1938. Bee Ho performed with his coyote, Chink. Ada Sommervillle performed a trained dog act. A new act was added; Bee Ho's "Stooge" John. My father, Bert Gray, who was born in 1932, remembers John spending some time on the Oklahoma ranch where he lived as a boy. John was trying to learn to throw knives like Bee Ho but apparently was not very good. When my grandmother caught John using one of her sons as an assistant (target), she had a fit and John wasn't allowed to stay around the ranch much longer. |
